The Project Ready program is a five-year program.  Participation in each subsequent year in this five-year program is contingent on the student meeting all requirements during each preceding program year.  Each program year consists of 10 months of enrichment activities, workshops and seminars designed to assist Black and Brown students to effectively lead their peers while still matriculating through school and help them prepare for leadership roles in college, career, and life.

This program focuses on Mentorship, Leadership Development, Historical and Cultural Literacy, College Tours, College, National Case Competition, and Career Preparation while in partnership with the National Urban League. Because we are in San Diego, and because of the demographics of the students in the program, we also discuss parallels, influences, and connections of the Latino, Afro-Latino, African, Pan-Asian, and other underrepresented communities.

The Project Ready curriculum on College and Career Readiness and Historical and Cultural Literacy seeks to address the lack of culturally relevant and historically accurate curricula on the urban experience in America, and to empower youth with positive images of themselves as a people who have impacted the social, economic, political, and cultural development of this nation, yesterday and today.

Our mission is to spark Project Ready youth with the curiosity to increase their knowledge of self and community while investigating our history and encouraging civic engagement.

There is required participation the Annual Golden Pyramid Scholars Program held in May of each year.

Curriculum on Historical and Cultural Literacy seeks to address the lack of culturally relevant and historically accurate curricula on the Black urban experience in America, and to empower youth with positive images of themselves as a people who have impacted the social, economic, political, and cultural development of this nation, yesterday and today.

Our mission is to spark Project Ready youth with the curiosity to increase their knowledge of self and community while investigating African American history.  For more information about the program, partnerships, sponsorships, and RFP for Speakers/Presentation, please contact Kea Hagan at (619) 266-6265 or send an email to kea@sdul.org.
